Adonis Flores

Adonis Flores (born 1971), a Cuban multidisciplinary artist based in Havana, employs photography, video, installation, performance, and public interventions to parody military discipline and its intersections with civil life, drawing from his service in Angola's independence war in 1989 to explore themes of fear, fragility, violence, insecurity, power, and death through self-referential characters in camouflage that blend order with subversion. Graduating with an architecture degree from the Universidad Central de Las Villas, his series like Camuflajes and works such as Visionario or Carne de cañón use humor, irony, and everyday objects to critique dehumanization and national identity, exhibiting at venues including Galería Habana, SCOPE Fair in London, and international events like the Havana Biennial. His practice, open to all materials and genres, resides in collections worldwide, positioning him as a key voice in contemporary Cuban art that bridges personal trauma with global socio-political commentary.
