The work speaks from a symbolic representation of exile and fragmented identity. The distorted face (“Face”) suggests pain, fear, or alienation — profound emotions tied to the experience of displacement. At the same time, the raft (“Raft”) functions as a metaphor for precariousness, a dangerous journey, hope, and survival. Together, the face on the raft represents the individual carrying their culture, their past, and their dreams while navigating an uncertain world.
The DF Collection is a family art collection dedicated exclusively to Contemporary Cuban Art, highlighting key artists such as Tania Bruguera, Los Carpinteros, and Belkis Ayón.
