Carlos Quintana's "Untitled" ceramic sculpture confronts the inexorable erosion of human essence through a spectral skull form, its turquoise glaze fractured like desiccated earth under duress, where voids of obsidian sockets and nasal cavity devour light, and viscous drips cascade in indigo and alabaster, evoking the liquefaction of memory amid existential dissolution. This totemic relic interrogates the alchemy of decay as both annihilation and revelation, symbolizing the psyche's brittle facade cracked by historical pressures and personal hauntings, where the ceramic's fired permanence paradoxically underscores the transience of identity in a post-revolutionary void. Extending to motifs of mnemonic fragmentation, the work posits the cranium as a vessel for unspoken traumas, challenging the boundary between corporeal remnant and metaphysical echo, inviting a meditation on regeneration forged from the ruins of self.
The DF Collection is a family art collection dedicated exclusively to Contemporary Cuban Art, highlighting key artists such as Tania Bruguera, Los Carpinteros, and Belkis Ayón.
