Carlos Garaicoa opens his solo exhibition Double Exposure at Almeida & Dale

Almeida & Dale São Paulo, Brazil

On October 25, Carlos Garaicoa opens Double Exposure, his first solo exhibition in São Paulo in six years, held simultaneously at Almeida & Dale and Galleria Continua.

Internationally recognized since the 1990s, Garaicoa creates works that blend photography, sculpture, drawing, and installation, reflecting on the tension between culture and nature, architecture and decay.

The show addresses central themes in the artist’s practice—architecture, mathematics, geometry, and the social fabric of cities—and features works that move between painting, sculpture, and installation. It includes both new pieces and internationally acclaimed series that reflect an artistic practice that is cohesive yet constantly reinventing itself.

The solo show brings together notable works from his career, such as Toda utopia passa pela barriga, 2008-2024, in which the artist combines food and politics, reaffirming his critical view of the collapse of contemporary utopias. In addition to recent works, Aconitum and Atropa belladonna, both from 2025, where insistent vegetation invades the ruins of Havana.
