Carlos Garaicoa's "Sin título / Untitled (Parqueo MINREX)" interrogates the spectral bureaucracy of Cuban state apparatus through a lambda photograph of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' desolate parking expanse, where skeletal scaffolds and dilapidated facades embody stalled diplomatic ambitions, overlaid with a meticulous web of pins and threads that reimagine absent architectures as fragile, utopian projections suspended in ideological limbo. This intervention disrupts photographic realism, transforming documentary evidence into a cartographic fiction where threads delineate invisible boundaries and power structures, probing the dialectic between material obsolescence and conceptual reconstruction amid post-Soviet economic paralysis. Extending to motifs of mnemonic cartography, the work posits urban voids as palimpsests of unfulfilled sovereignty, challenging viewers to navigate the precarious filaments between historical inertia and the alchemical potential of speculative rebuilding.
The DF Collection is a family art collection dedicated exclusively to Contemporary Cuban Art, highlighting key artists such as Tania Bruguera, Los Carpinteros, and Belkis Ayón.
