“I want to transform architecture into a moving system rather than something stuck in one place.” - Alexandre Arrechea

Alexandre Arrechea (b. 1970, Trinidad, Cuba) examines the relationships between architecture, power, and everyday life through sculpture, watercolor, installation, and video. A founding member of Los Carpinteros, he established his independent practice in 2003. His work transforms familiar buildings and objects into propositions about authority, collective memory, and the instability of social systems. Major projects include No Limits (2013), ten monumental sculptures installed along New York’s Park Avenue, and Katrina Chairs (2016), presented at Coachella.
